First of all... Hello, my name is Elija and I have recently stumbled in to Salix OS.

It is installed on my brand new laptop and I'm pleased to say that everything worked straight away. Kudos to the team behind this. Salix OS does have a flaw though... No Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup in the repositories. Still not much a flaw eh?

I'm an inveterate distro hopper who has used everything from Ubuntu to Slackware and even ventured in BSD territory. I am in no way an expert in Linux even after 10 + years of using it as my experience has generally been way to smooth to aid my learning. Either that or I am such Linux God I instinctively avoid nearly all problems

Salix OS is looking like it might make it on to my main desktop. It will be interesting to see how long it stays there as I have the attention span of a hyperactive mayfly.

Hi Elija. I have also been hopping distros for the past week trying to find one I really like. I stumbled across this one and love it as well.

In my experience, Salix is Slackware with all the work taken out of it + a few handy packages added in for fun. If you are interested in learning the ins and outs of your system, may I suggest beginning with a plain Slackware install and getting it to resemble what Salix adds in?
