Hi!
Using my newbie's rights to post questions anywhere I can , here it is:
In Windows there is a registry, which has information about installed programs (and there is many other things, ofc). And sometimes it's useful to reinstall Windows because registry becomes large and slow.
As far as I know, Linux has no registry (yes, I know, that Slackware has information about all installed packages, but, I think, it's used only when you try to delete package). So, my question: does large number of installed packages decrease my PC's performance?

I'm sorry. I thought, my question is not so important to create a new topic for 1 answer, so I found a topic about something same. But, as I see now, my understanding of "orphan package" was wrong. I thought, "orphan" is a package, that is not using no more. That's why I posted my question there.

Waking up old threads is never a good idea and different topics deserve their own thread. To less experienced users different issues often seem to be connected, while actually on a closer look they're completely unrelated. There are many different, unrelated causes for headache and with computers it's the same.
So joining topics for the sake of it is no better than splitting them at any price. As so often it's somewhere in the middle.

Your English actually is no problem either. I have no problems with understanding you unlike with other very significantly worse posts.

Thanks a lot! But, at least, that signature tells other people that my possible mistakes are because of my non-Enlish own language.

Almost everybody here is not speaking English as mother tongue. So it's kinda expected and otherwise it wouldn't help much. But never mind, I was just pointing out that your English is actually quite good.

Well, thanks for asking this. I was wondering the same myself. I saw a couple of remarks implying what Gapan said, but he came right out and said it.

I wonder why everybody thinks this? This is not related at all. Even on Windows this should not be a problem as long as you don't install bloatware/malware that nests itself into autostart. Sadly most Windows freeware behaves like that
