Hi,
Is there any alternative network manager like the one has the gnome?
It seems that the wicd is f*** buggy..... It can be connected to WPA wireless without any problem but when on openwifi I have no network! it seems to be connected and has an IP but cannot send/receive anything.
(probably messing the routes)
thx
chris

Um... I use wicd with open (unsecured) connections on a regular basis and there is no problem. Perhaps you can post some specifics about your setup and configuration and we can sort it out. In my experience wicd is solid and network manager (the app you asked for) is a buggy mess from hell.

XMrIS, you can build the packages "NetworkManager" and "network-manager-applet" from
SlackBuild scripts.

You will need to uninstall wicd first or the two will definitely come into conflict.

thank you mate for this, I was aware about it, as I did the opposite on some distros at the past...
