[SOLVED] Theme not carried from kde live cd

Hey
I just installed Salix, it seems a really nice distro so well done there. I want to stay with it but there's one thing bugging me which is the lovely themed live user desktop from the live cd isn't what I get when I log in, in fact some of the apps are just plain ugly. I noticed even the kde launch icon had been lovingly twiddled on the live disk but this isn't carried over either.
I have plenty of linux experience but kde is a new beast to me. Does anyone know of a way I can grab those settings from live? Also I'd recommend setting up file associations for pdfs on the next issue so that new users can read the wiki pdfs without being prompted.
This is the 64-bit 13.37 live release. Thanks.
