hi everybody , i hope you doing well

well i'm a new member on salix os forum , and also new user of salis os . really fresh user cuz that's my first day using this distro . well everything was okey , I installed it on a seperate hard drive " not a partition = 250go" . well the only issue that made mad the graphical login screen , i had two account normal user and root user . i knew i can't login as a root , i use my user name : in my case was : zazlox , but when i type password on the graphical login screen , always gave error , i'm sure 200% it's correct because when i switch to init3 , typing the same name and the password i can login , that was the first problem , i fix it by changing the password on init 3 = ctrl+alt+f3

ok but i still have the same problem till this moment , but with root password , i tried changing the password too many times on console init 3 but it doesn't work , well i don't know why !!!!!

First of all, it's better not to hijack other people's threads. It might have seemed that your problem was similar, but really it isn't. Better to start a new thread anyway. I have split your post from the previous thread.

Now, to your problem. You're definitely not typing the passwords correctly. You may think you are, but you are not. My guess is that you're using a laptop and you are being careless (or you were careless during installation or when you changed your password) with the numlock key. Or, you picked the wrong keymap for your keyboard and for example you could have selected an azerty keyboard although you're actually using a qwerty keyboard.

thanks gapan for your kind comment . because of this problem i reinstall salix nearly 4 times . my keypoard is azerty , and i'm sure that i changed it during the installation step . i do remember to enable the numlock and i'm using a desktop computer . anyway i'm going to reinstall it once again and see if there is anything missong or i was careless about some step , thanks agian gapan

problem solved , i reinstall salix , and changed the passwd and now it seems working ,
