Seems that this gets my personal blog

I just got the official nbannounce Newsletter about the new 6.8 release, but the download server seems to be still very slow or nearly down. Very crazy

Okay, the installation seems to work. 8-)

Just one question. If I would like to provide a slack package for Netbeans, do I have to consider about something else than the packaging rules?

For example, Debian has strict rules where to place each file.

For the Netbeans case, it will only install all files into one folder, let's say /usr/local/netbeans-6.8 per default. And there will be a .desktop file for a menu entry "Netbeans 6.8" in "Development" submenu. Is this okay :?:

 So I will install the folder and makepkg it to have it easily available for salix repository.

Thanks in advance for any help about that.

Yes, some files need to be put in the right place.
For example, the documentation about a software in /usr/doc/software-name-ver
/usr/man for man pages.

/usr/local should not be used for packages !!
it's a place for "local" stuff, i.e. not distribution stuff.
A distribution package should therefore not write anything in there.
So, one could delete all that are in /usr/local without killing its system.

Well, I don't know how netbeans works, so it's difficult to say.
If I guess, I'll say :
- "bin/*" in /usr/bin/
- "etc/*" in /etc/netbeans/ (or /etc if name is explicit and there are not too much)
- all capitalize files and netbeans.css (and maybe another directory if reference by the html files) in /usr/doc/netbeans-6.8/
- all the others to /usr/share/netbeans/ or /usr/share/netbeans-6.8/

See the "DISTRIBUTION.txt" or "README*" files, it may contains instruction for packaging maybe.

NetBeans IDE and NetBeans Platform are based on software from netbeans.org, which has been dual licensed under the Common Development and Distribution License (CDDL) and the GNU General Public License version 2 with Classpath exception. For more information, please visit www.netbeans.org.
