Hi,
Now every time I log in to my desktop, a dialog box comes up for "Wicd Network Manager". How do I get that to not come up every time I log in?
Thank you

As root run in a xterm
or
This will stop wicd to run at boot.

Uhm, the dialog box is more the fact of started applications when you connect to your desktop.
If you don't want to be bothered by it, it depends of your running desktop.
For Xfce, it's in the Xfce configuration tool.
rc.wicd is for the wicd service which is the background process to connect you to different kind of networks.
If you don't need it, you can do what djemos has written.

I think wicd has some options in preferences (maybe under Edit, maybe a thing at the top right) to control whether or not it does this. I'd be cautious about turning it off altogether, and there should be no need.
If you still have trouble, please post again to say so, and I'll check this next time I'm running xfce. Which flavour of Salix do you have - am I right in remembering that it's Fluxbox 13.37?
