Hi,
I`ve just installed cheese on my laptop and cheese shows image upside-down. Any idea how to fix that?
It also does not have its icon in Salix->Multimedia menu.
upside-down cheese
Re: upside-down cheese
Is it only in cheese or does the webcam work like that anyway? It appears that some webcams are actually mounted upside-down in some laptops (link). If it's only in cheese, or if you only care about cheese, there is an upside-down plugin in there. If it's a more general problem, then I have seen reports that
or
might work. Other than that you can hold your laptop upside down.
And the icon is there, xfce just takes a long time to realize it is.
Code: Select all
echo 0 >/sys/class/video4linux/video0/vflip
Code: Select all
echo 1 >/sys/class/video4linux/video0/vflip

Re: upside-down cheese
I tested Ubuntu and Fedora`s cheese and it works OK. It seems only salix has the problem.gapan wrote:Is it only in cheese or does the webcam work like that anyway?
Unfortunately there is no such file 'vflip'. I tried to create it as root but I couldn`tgapan wrote:orCode: Select all

Re: upside-down cheese
It's not a problem with cheese, it's a problem with your webcam/driver. What kernel version are they using? Maybe if you compiled a newer kernel it would work.witek wrote:I tested Ubuntu and Fedora`s cheese and it works OK. It seems only salix has the problem.
Re: upside-down cheese
Of course they are using newer kernels 2.6.32.
Re: upside-down cheese
And what about the upside-down plugin?
Re: upside-down cheese
Now that's funny...gapanOther than that you can hold your laptop upside down. .
