disk usage tool?

Hello Salix Forum,
i would like to request the tool "baobab" or something comparable.
Does anybody know a tool which is available via sourcery, to display the diskspace usage of files and folders?
Is there a "ls" parameter which is capable of that?
Another good idea would be to provide the localization packs for Thunderbird, right now my firefox ist in german and my thunderbird is in english,
which is, lets say suboptimal...
The "gnome-system-monitor" (Version 2 or 3) would also be nice to have.
I am totally new to Slackware/Salix and i dont know how to bake this packages with slapt-src, but i will learn that soon.
Although i must say that Sourcery is really a comfortable tool.

man du * thats it!
thanks
gdmap * is only drawing nice pictures but no file or folder infos to read.
mate-utils * not available through slapt-get and slapt-src
(not available at slackbuilds, maybe it will be available later there?) maybe i use that as my first exercise for creating from sourcecode...

If you're using 13.37, mate-utils is there. If you're using 14.0, it will be there in the future.

alright, i have updated my signature now. I can wait or try to build it (or just baobab) on my own
Edit:
mmh, i thought it is possible to download a source file and build it...

Did you try the tool from mate-utils?
That 'z' hurts, but the app itself is pretty good.

hi there,
mate-disk-usage-analyzer is not available in official Repo or at Slackbuild.org for Salix 14.0.
Not yet.
Does anybody know how to get the source for baobab and build it with slackware?

It's in mate-utils (which includes some other stuff) but you're right, it doesn't appear to be ready yet. It has a number of dependencies that also aren't in the repo. So maybe the only thing is to wait. But it will be there for the release.

yepp, i knew that before i have downloaded the 14.0 first beta version.
But it already runs, looks and feels great, the installer works perfectly simple, the final version has the potential to increase the popularity of the distro significantly. Maybe it would be a good idea to emphasize the installation options (with installation sizes) in the release anouncements.
I think there are many people who want a stable, minimalistic distro as a base for their linux system which is installed only 1.8GB in size (basic xfce4 installation). Therefore, including
LiveClone in 14.0 Repo would also be a nice idea.
