Vbox extension pack and nettle

This isn't a problem anymore but maybe it will be of use to someone else.
I recently did a new install of Salix-14 and then Vbox-4.2.4-81684. However, I could not install the corresponding extension pack. When attempted from the preferences > extensions menu I recieved a failure notice about libnettle not being able to access a /usr/lib/libgio module.
After installing nettle from gslapt I had another install error when installing using preferences > extensions regarding a missing namespace. However I could successfully install the extension pack manually using
