I am having problems with "ghost images".
When I login the battery and wifi icons are just a series of lines.
When I double click on a desktop icon it will open the relevant window but the icon disappears and is replaced with 5 or so ghost images.
Occasionally the battery and wifi icons fix themselves but it seems completly random.
(The wifi icon has just fixed itself as i'm typing, the battery is still just lines...)
I have a screenshot if my explaination is a bit vague but i'm not able to upload it.
Cheers.

Re: Ghost Images
Changing the default icon theme fixed that for me on my laptop with the intel chipset. My other machines don't seem to have that issue.
Re: Ghost Images
I tried that, unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.
Out of interest, what settings did you find worked? I tried a random selection but will give the one that worked for you a shot.
Additional info:
1. I am currently dual booting with VectorLinux6 - Light (trying to decide which one to stick with), and am not having similar problems.
2. md5 has been checked and is fine.

Re: Ghost Images
Do you have an intel graphics card? If you open gslapt you'll see that there are several versions of the xf86-video-intel package available. The latest version is installed by default. But unfortunately, no single version works properly with all intel models. So try installing different versions of the package with gslapt, try them one by one and restart X until you find one that works right.
Re: Ghost Images
Thank-you gapan,
Your suggestion worked perfectly.
I decided to work my way through them from the newest to the oldest.
No suprises, it was the last one I tried...
Anybody who has a similar problem and has:
Intel 82852 / 855GM chipset, save yourself sometime and install
version 2.5.1-i486-1 directly.
Thanks again.

Re: Ghost Images
One more thing! You should probably disable updates of xf86-video-intel with slapt-get/gslapt. Edit the EXCLUDE list in gslapt/Preferences/Exclude tab and add it, or straight in /etc/slapt-get/slapt-getrc. All this should probably go in the wiki...
Re: Ghost Images
Wow!!!
You're really on to it.
About 10mins after making the changes the update advisor informed me of updates.
It wanted to update to the latest version.
Was just playing around trying to work out how to disable the updates and wondering whether to make another post about disabling updates!
Do put it in the wiki...
At least it shows your update advisor is working correctly.
ps. Am very impressed with the feedback and the distro.
Cheers.

Re: Ghost Images
These intel drivers suck, e.g. I have to use 2.8.0 on my netbook. The other versions don't work.
Re: Ghost Images
Yeah, it seems a bit random.
Just booted into vector and everything is working fine with version 2.2.1...
