[Solved] Unable to Resume from Suspend/Hibernate

Hey all...I'm having an issue with resuming from both suspend and hibernate in SalixOS 14.0 Xfce 64bit. After a fresh install there are no issues, but I have an ATI Radeon HD 5500 graphics card in my laptop so I followed the guide in the wiki to install the proprietary driver. I'd much rather use the free driver, but for now the proprietary driver gives me maximum battery life and also keeps my laptop cooler. So after successfully installing the driver, I am able to suspend and hibernate but whenever I try to resume, there's just a black screen and the keyboard is unresponsive. At that point all I could do was press the power button to reset. Anybody got an idea of what the problem is? Let me know if there's a terminal output or some additional info you'd like me to post...thanks.

Did you add 'resume=/dev/sd***' (location of your swap partition) in the append line of your boot loader?

I did add that when I first installed Salix, but I will check out lilo and see if there's a problem...I'll have to wait until after work today though

...I shall report back.

Okay, so I checked lilo and the resume parameter was there so I don't know, but the proprietary driver has been giving me even more problems

...I use my computer to watch movies on a projector (via hdmi) sometimes and there was a weird glitch when I connected the hdmi cable to the laptop. The screen was all garbled and returned to normal when I disconnected the cable. I ended up just removing the driver and using the open source one. I guess that will work for now. Whenever a new image with fluxbox or mate is released, I'll give it another shot. Thanks for the help though.
Cheers

I tried installing the proprietary driver again to see if I could get lucky. Unfortunately, at first, I had the same problem, but fortunately

I found a solution. All I had to do was append this parameter to my lilo.conf.
I rebooted and that did the trick..I can resume after suspend. Now the only very minor annoyance is that the font looks much larger during the boot process...back to lilo to see if I can fix that now.
Update: I tried connecting my laptop to the projector again and the screen was crisp
