Hi to all.
I have a problem with okular, it can't open any pdf file. This is what I found in terminal when I run it from there and tried to open a pdf file:
Code: Select all
okular(5163) KSambaSharePrivate::testparmParamValue: We got some errors while running testparm "Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf
Error loading services.
"
okular(5163) KSambaSharePrivate::findSmbConf: KSambaShare: Could not find smb.conf!
okular(5163)/okular (app) Okular::DocumentPrivate::loadGeneratorLibrary: Invalid plugin factory for "okularGenerator_poppler"!
Any idea?

Is the file on the same machine or are you trying to access it over a local network? If yes, what happens when you try to open a pdf on the same machine?

The file is located in home folder. When I tried to open a file i get an error message saying that it is impossible to open the file:
Code: Select all
Impossibile aprire file:///home/sigur/allegatoordinamento-2013_1.pdf

Okular works fine here on salix-kde-4.8.5 and on slackel-kde-4.9.2.
On kde-4.8.5 okular version is 0.14.3.
Do you run salix-kde or another salix version where you have installed kde.
Maybe it is a policy problem. Or a missing or old library. poppler ? here are the dep files for okular (acl,attica,attr,bzip2,chmlib,cups,djvulibre,ebook-tools,expat,fontconfig,freetype,gamin,gcc,cxxlibs|gcc-g++, ghostscript, giflib, glib2, herqq, kdelibs, lcms, libICE, libSM, libX11, libXau, libXcursor, libXdmcp, libXext, libXfixes, libXft, libXi,libXpm,libXrender,libXtst,libdbusmenu-qt,libidn,libjpeg,libpng,libspectre,libtiff,libxcb,libxml2,libzip,openssl-solibs|openssl, pcre, phonon, poppler, qca, qimageblitz, qt,soprano,strigi,udev,utempter,util-linux,xz,zlib)
Give more details about your system.
Also what version of lcms and lcms2, you have installed in your system? (lcms-1.19-x86_64-2.txz, lcms2-2.3-x86_64-1.txz for slackware 14.0)
(lcms-1.19-x86_64-2.txz, lcms2-2.4-x86_64-1.txz for slackware current)

I' m running Salix-KDE with KDE 4.8.5 on 64 bit.
lcms is 1.19 and lcms2 is 2.3 installed. Which more details do you need?
All deps are installed.

The google search that I provide a link to has several hits that had the same error message. (Okular::DocumentPrivate::loadGeneratorLibrary: Invalid plugin factory for "okularGenerator_poppler"!). They all seem to point to a cofiguration issue with poppler. Maybe try reinstalling it.

I tried to reinstall poppler but nothing happened. So I thought that reinstalling okular it might work, in that way I found that okular was not even installed, I don' t know how. So I installed okular trough slapt-get and now everything works.

Thank you.

However, my doubt is, why was okular not installed? The program started as it were installed.
