Truecrypt cannot mount drive

I installed Truecrypt from Sourcery without issue. Currently, I have an external HD that I have entirely encrypted with TrueCrypt when I was running Crunchbang. When I try to mount it from Truecrypt, it is not taking my root or user password. For my root password, it just pops back to the password screen without any error, but when I use my user password, it tells me I am not in sudoers.
Not sure if anyone knows much about truecrypt, but I'm finding it odd that it is not taking my root password to mount the drive. Would it be wise to add my user account with visudo and give me permission to mount drives?
I'd have to dig a bit to know exactly what is being called on to mount from within Truecrypt...I'd like to avoid having to give my user account full sudo permissions as I prefer to su if I have to administer from the CLI.
