Setting default file manager

Hi,

I had couple of issues with Thunar and hence I installed qtfm and made it as a default file manager using the "preferred applications" from settings manager. When I launch the file manager from the Salix start menu, qtfm opens fine. However, when I try to launch any folders from the places menu, it opens up in thunar only. How do I make qtfm as the default file manager for everything?

Thanks,
Balaji.

Hi,

I renamed /usr/bin/thunar as /usr/bin/thunar.backup and created a softlink for thunar with pcmanfm and it works perfectly.

Thanks,
Balaji.

What does it say in Salix Menu > Settings > Mime Type Editor for inode/directory mime-type? If it still says "Open Folder with Thunar" try changing it.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I changed the mime settings. However, it still did not work and hence I went back to my old solution.

Thanks,
Balaji.

The xfce desktop is hardcoded to use thunar. You can't change that. Only way is to actually change the thunar binary, as you did.
