I had huge smp kernel on reiser fs.

I failed to switch to generic kernel both with smp and without.

Does not generic kernel support reiserfs?

is there any problem in using smp kernel on single core?

You will need to create an initrd with the modules that you want loaded if you want to use the generic kernel. There should be a README.initrd file or similar in any slackware repository.

i did follow instructions at
http://docs.slackware.com/slackware:beg ... ric_kernel

When I did create initrd for reiserfs support and modified lilo.conf
After booting, I got msg like
==========
Unable to mount root fs unknown block ()
Swapper not tainted.
==========

but huge kernel works OK.
