I was impatient for waiting the official release
and did build Thunar myself.

It requires exo library to be updated to 10 from xfce.
http://archive.xfce.org/src/xfce/exo/0.10/

Then the Thunar 1.63 should be built. Download source
http://archive.xfce.org/src/xfce/thunar/1.6

There was a problem!! Thunar did not work after reboot.

I had to re-install 1.4 again with Gslapt.
But when I started Thunar, the version 1.63 was working!!!
not 1.4.
Gslapt shows Thunar 1.4 installed. but 1.63 runs with all features.

Maybe, I should have uninstalled 1.4 before "make install" 1.63

RIght now I am sitting in Gentoo updated to yesterday.
Thunar 1.6.3
And looking a View as well as Preferences and I don't see any method or selection for Tabs..

EDIT: What an Idiot I am ...
Tabs are simply a selection Menu File> New Tab
And not a configuration option.
So Tabs work fine in 1.6.3 and saves opening up multiple Thunars ..
I also have 1.6 in Debian Sid ... I will have to check out Wheezy.
