Hi all,
I don't have a good printer yet to use. Dose Salix have printer support? What would be a good brand of printer to buy?
Thanks
Jack

Of course it has printer support! Printing is managed through CUPS, so
any printer that is supported by any other linux system is supported
here as well.
As to what printer you should buy, I think you shouldn't have any
problems with most printers, maybe with the exceptions of lexmark or
canon printers, although I'm not so sure about newer canon printers, I
hear they work just fine too. In any case a web search before actually
buying the model you potted would certainly help.

Hi, jmdlcar,
As you shop for a printer, I recommend that you check how compatible it is with Linux by searching in the OpenPrinting Database:
http://www.openprinting.org/printers
The Linux Foundation. OpenPrinting Database.
I'm not sure if it includes every printer manufactured, but it does have a useful rating scale: Works Perfectly (3 penguins); Mostly (2 penguins); Partially (1 penguin); or the dreaded Paperweight category (No penguins). It also lists the recommended printer driver(s) to use.
HTH.

Hi,
Is a Desktop 1000 the same as Desktop 1000c? On The Linux Foundation OpenPrinting Database they are the one that post Desktop 1000c. Hope they are the same.
