Let me to describe my way to install salix 14 kde 64 bit, maybe is the learning for others. I have installed this distro to my usb flash and tried to install on my hard disc. my surprise was no live cd. I was unsuccessfull to install from usb flash and I have crossed to dvd. Installation was successfull exept bootloader. I didn't lilo and I had to finish installation without bootloader. I used master grub disc and created grub2. I have globally 5 distros on my PC. I described my problems with installation of nvidia driver in other item. I have never had salix before. I am very satisfied with it. My recommendation for developers is to consider add grub or grub 2 on iso and create live iso for 64 bit as well. I am not sure new users be without problems during installation process. Thanks for your time.

The Salix downloads page clearly indicates Installation disk images and Live disk images.
Both are available for 32 and 64 bits, although only XFCE, KDE and MATE have Live disks.
As Salix follows Slackware, we use lilo.
Those who wish to use grub/grub2 can do so, and probably already have it installed from another distro.
Perhaps you could identify the problems you think the text based installer creates?

I am afraid that you are not right. Salix 14 Kde 64 bit has not live CD. About text installer would be good to add possibility to install grub 2, if it is possible. Whether user does not know this fact, that must install lilo or no bootloader, could be problem. When user uses usb flash, cannot install system on hard disc, I tried all possibilities of installation menu without success. I would appreciate explaining, if it is possible.

There is a LiveCD for Salix KDE 13.37 available.

*one application per task on the installation ISO
so there's only one bootloader on the installation ISO!
The Salix Startup Guide provides instructions on how to install from USB. Click WIKI and Startup Guide from the homepage.

I agree with you Salix 13.37 has a liveCd but Salix 14 not. I used Salix 14. I have no problem with distro, my remark was meant only for new users. Thank you.

Salixlive-kde-14.0.1 32 and 64 bit iso images are ready. I will upload them when i have a fast connection. I don't have it here where i am.
Can install from installation dvd and don't install lilo bootloader.
After installation, if you have other distro's and grub installed then just boot in your other linux distro and using grub-customize can have salix on grub menu to boot from it. This is the easiest way for newbies.

Even salix live boot with grub after installation on HD lilo is installed. So same have to do from salixlive also. Do not install lilo.

Since slackware uses lilo, salix use lilo also as bootloader.

I agree with you and I am quite satisfied with Salix. Is it possible to install from usb flash? I downloaded Salix 14.1 kde 64 bit and only text installer is available. Thank you.

The Salix wiki has instructions for installing from USB - and someone posted above to say so does the startup guide.

As for the text-based installer, if that is not to your taste, you may prefer a different Linux distribution. However, it is pretty straightforward, and again, I believe the startup guide contains a walkthrough. You may wish to create the partition intended for Salix using a live cd or usb before beginning the Salix installation.
