I've been using nothing but Salix for three weeks now, and I like it a lot.
Absolute was my favourite Slack-distro for quite some time but now I prefer Salix.

The new Openchrome drivers Thenktor provided solved all the issues I had with the
flickering mouse cursor and Totem crashes.

PS: On a friend's PC X totally freezes with the default openchrome drivers.
