hi all,

have installed salix 14 kde 32bit,
everything went fine and installed ati driver with no problems, everything works fine only wen i go to sytem settings-desktop effects i get this:

Desktop effects are not available on this system due to the following technical issues:

Required X extensions (XComposite and XDamage) are not available,

have looked in gslapt and both XComposite and XDamage are installed. so have no cube or others effects. have searched the forum but no succes. any suggestions.

Have a look in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/disable-composite.conf
Change the option to "Enable"
Restart X
Turn on KDE desktop effects.
Enjoy.

Also
a) Enable cube and other effects under System Settings > Workspace Appearance.
b) Press ctrl+F11 and using mouse can turn cube. Press ESC key or right clik the mouse to return to desktop.
c) If you want your graphic to appear to up and down side of the cube then copy your graphic image to /usr/share/apps/kwin/cubecap.png (e.g. cp your_image.png /usr/share/apps/kwin/cubecap.png)
