Hello again,

Configured my brother printer as per startup guide but am unable to print a test page. Any suggestions. Updated mirrors as well if that helps.

Thanks.

Printer is Brother 2040.

See this for proper driver
http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Bro ... er-HL-2040

When all seems to be working on the printer install and yet the test page doesn't print.........
I usually find that the print driver is at fault..
Check all printer conections to the computer.. be they usb or cat5 or wifi
You can down load a copy of the printer driver from the openprinting site.
Then go thru a Modify Printer with the Cups Manage Printer interface.
When asked for the driver choose that you have the driver and then navigate to the downloaded driver and install...
See if that helps.

What startup guide? I used the Brother site for my DCP-135C. Worked with a bit of tweeking. The same page but for your printer would be:

http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bs ... ml#HL-2040

Do all the normal things look OK? Permissions, "lsusb", "lpstat -t", the cups screen?

Would that have been the HPIJS driver ?
Seems that the OpenPrinting site had them all 5 in all..

^ Yep, that is one of the five listed..
Sometimes if unsure you have to try a couple.. ;)
