In VirtualBox you can select which operating system and version you are about to install to a new virtual machine.

Does somebody know what differences are there besides only the icon visible left to the list entry then?

How can the user add custom icons? That means, maybe it is somehow possible to include the Salix tree icon for Salix machines?

Very good question I already thought about...and I don't know at all !
