So I just downloaded the 64 bit Salix 14.0.1 XFCE onto my new laptop. The install was fine but the problem is when it loads up the desktop after I log in, the text on every icon and application is all choppy. It is really hard to make out words and even see what is going on. It is especially worse when an application is running, I cannot see a thing. Any idea why?

You are going to have to provide more infomation before anyone will be able to help. Please post the make and model of the labtop and what graphic chip is uses. Post the output of ;

u can also go to (Settings manager -> Appearance -> Fonts) an then configure....

Thank you for your reponses. That was weird, after leaving the dektop up for a while and clicking through the settings manager, the text slowly got easier and easier to read. I do not know why but I am not complaining. I can see everything on the screen now!
