Which server application do you suggest for setting up mailbox support? IMAP will be a good thing to have.
I know of these ones:
- exim (complicated to configure, I guess)
- postfix (seems mostly default in other distributions)
- Procmail
- Fetchmail
- SpamBayes
- Courier-imap
- Mutt
- SquirrelMail

I'm at the same question. I guess I'll use:
postfix
courier-imap
roundcube

All three not (yet?) in Salix repository, hm.

postfix is already in the i486 repository, not too hard to create an x86_64 package too.

This is what I use in my Debian system server (not the one on enialis.net)
I also use squirrelmail because this is what has been set before and works good.
I still need to figure out how to set folder redirections and vacations on the server side and then squirrelmail will be useless. The latests versions of roundcube are now fast enough to be used with many emails.

JRD, thanks for the information. I've never used roundcube before, I've only found it in the web and the interface looks quite modern. This is the reason why I want to try it.
BTW: Will a complete courier setup have any advantages? And does someone know dovecot?

Me too. I remember it from debian times (long time ago...) It was a quite cool thing (afaik especially configuration).

Why do you want to use corier-imap then?

Yeah, I forgot to mention dovecot in my initial posting.
So I will do some experiments with all of these apps next week. Thanks for all hints so far.
