xfburn freezing

I'm using 14.1 xfce 32 bit. Xfburn was installed by default, but I couldn't get it to work; it started up ok but when I tried to create a data disc it kept freezing. Eventually I gave up and installed brasero, which worked fine. Anyone else had any issues with xfburn?

Different people seem to have trouble with different burning applications; perhaps this is hardware-dependent. Overall, it may reflect the fact that optical media are increasingly falling out of use (USB sticks do nearly all the same jobs better, including booting Linux, whether Live or not) so maybe development is tailing off accordingly. My new Chromebook, for instance, doesn't even have an optical drive, any more than it has a floppy drive.

mimosa, thanks. I'm sure you're right; optical drives are becoming obsolete.
