Problem installing catalyst 14.4 on my vaio [solved]

Hello 'vry body
I am new to Salixos, but really like this tiny os.
I recently bought a new sony vaio laptop SB1S1E with integrated hybrid graphics Intel/ATI. I've successfully installed xubuntu 14.04 on it with the proprietary ATI driver. But, I have some annoying bugs with buntu, so I'd like to switch to salix.

I've installed Salixos 14.1 and everything just runs fine, except the ATI driver.

I really need this proprietary driver to switch between the discrete and ATI card.
My Vaio specs : Notebook: Sony Vaio VPC-SB1S1E (Vaio VPC-S Series)
Processor: Intel Core i5 2520M
Graphics Adapter: AMD Radeon HD 6470M
Display: 13.3 inch, 16:9, 1366x768 pixels, glossy: no

Made package fglrx with latest AMD catalyst 14.4
installpkg fglrx 14.10.1006.1001

Tried aticonfig --initial -f command and xorg.conf from xubuntu install as well. Can't boot on x screen with both.

Log ends with a "no screens found" error. Hope that somebody will help or maybe experienced same issue ?

How did you make the fglrx package?

Edit: never mind, I see now that amd installer has an option to build a slackware package

I can see that some package must be installed in order to make things work.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-article ... Notes.aspx

Do you think some could be missing?

System Requirements:
Before attempting to install the AMD Catalystâ„¢ Linux Graphics Driver, the following software must be installed:

Xorg/Xserver 7.4 and above (up to 1.14)
Linux kernel 2.6 or above (up to 3.11)
glibc version 2.2 or 2.3
POSIX Shared Memory (/dev/shm) support is required for 3D applications

NOTE: If a Linux 2.6.11 or newer kernel was built with CONFIG_AGP enabled, the kernel AGP frontend is required to load the fglrx kernel module. To identify whether your kernel with CONFIG_AGP enabled, look for CONFIG_AGP=y in the kernel config file, or if the 'agpgart' module is loaded

System Recommendations:
For optimal performance and ease of use, the following are available:

Kernel module build environment
Kernel source code include either the Kernel Source or Kernel Headers packages
The RPM utility should be installed and configured correctly on your system, if you intend to install via RPM packages

The following packages must be installed in order for the Catalystâ„¢ Linux Graphics Driver to install and work optimally:

gimp-help-en
gimp-help-common
XFree86-Mesa-libGL
libstdc++
libgcc
XFree86-libs
fontconfig
freetype
zlib
gcc

Thank you! I removed the fglrx built package and reinstalled catalyst without building slackware package. It works!
My vaio is now running smoothly and silently with its Intel integrated graphics.
For those who may experience same issue with catalyst 14.4, don't try to build the package, just install the driver, then

Code: Select all

aticonfig --initial -f
reboot to make changes

Code: Select all

sudo amdcccle
runs catalyst control center as root to switch between cards
