Tintii crashes might be a wxGTK bug maybe? (Solved)

I searched forum 1st. Nothing on Tintii.

I installed dependencies "boom" and "wxGTK" first via Gslapt because I was going to Install UrbanLightScape 1st through
Sourcery. But after Dependencies were met. UrbanLightscape install failed at the end in Sourcery. I did not pay attention
to failed log file. Because I figured I would move on to installing Tintii instead and cut my losses so to speak.

Tintii install completed OK in Sourcery. I refreshed my menu in Salix 14.1 Fluxbox to refresh my menu.

Image

Tintii opens OK. I go to load the picture highlighted and Tintii crashes on loading of picture with (I ran tintii in terminal for error checking)

Code: Select all

$ tintii
tintii: src/indii/tint/gui/../model/../../model/../image/ColourSpace.hpp:140: void indii::ColourSpace::rgb2hsl(const rgb_t&, indii::ColourSpace::hsl_t&): Assertion `b >= 0.0f && b <= 1.0f' failed.
Aborted
Searching my error. I found only a French Forum Majero thread which sounds close to my problem

http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... rev=search

Being a Southern Desert Linux using Scooter Tramp. From what I can tell. They mention something about a
wxGTK and

edit: I found; you must uninstall and re-install by modifying the PKGBUILD as follows (in the build section ())

Code: Select all
build() {
cd $pkgname-$pkgver
./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-assert CXXFLAGS="-O3 -g"
make
}
That is as far as my GED educated brain can carry me through this post/thread. Wondering what I need to do to fix this.

I made a tar.gz of /var/log/sourcery/urbanlightscape-1.1.3 to upload if needed to show maybe what went wrong with the urbanlightscape install. But I guess I do not know how to upload it to this type of forum layout. So

http://pastebin.com/G3j71ktE

Hope I gave enough info.

Edit: Ooops forgot. http://www.indii.org/software/tintii/
http://www.indii.org/software/urbanlightscape/

I would post the tintii install log from /var/log/sourcery but pastebin won't let me upload it
You have exceeded the maximum file size of 512 kilobytes per paste. PRO users don't have this limit!

I usually figure these things out for myself. But a build mis match is beyond my meger skill sets.
Happy Trails, Rok

I was attempting to install urbanlightscape to see the build failure and realized that it was already installed. I don't use this type of software so the only reason why it would be installed was because someone else had a problm with it. Searching the forum I found this.

http://forum.salixos.org/viewtopic.php? ... ape#p35653

This error line in your build log seems to suggest that the changes as described in that forum thread would fix your problem:
/usr/lib/gcc/i486-slackware-linux/4.8.2/include/xmmintrin.h:31:3: error: #error "SSE instruction set not enabled"
# error "SSE instruction set not enabled"
I have a 64 bit system, so it built and runs without problems for me.
rokytnji wrote:Tintii opens OK. I go to load the picture highlighted and Tintii crashes on loading of picture with (I ran tintii in terminal for error checking)
i installed Tintii here and like you it installed without problems, but it does work here when loading a picture.

Again, I am on a 64 bit system, so I would think that this is ether a 32 bit system problem or something unique with your installation.

Yeah, it is a atom n270 netbook install. I just woke up so here is a older inxi report on my install specs from my intro to the forum.

Thank you for helping again and have a good morning. Rok

Gave it a shot
Confirmed. There is something wrong with the slackbuild. Try this:

Code: Select all
cd /usr/src/slapt-src/graphics/urbanlightscape
sudo vi urbanlightscape.SlackBuild

go to lines 44 and 47 and change them to:

Code: Select all
SLKCFLAGS="-O2 -march=native"
I edited lines 44 and 47 like instructed by gapan.

Code: Select all

harry[urbanlightscape]$ sudo sh ./urbanlightscape.SlackBuild
<snip>
usr/doc/urbanlightscape-1.3.3/
usr/doc/urbanlightscape-1.3.3/COPYING
usr/doc/urbanlightscape-1.3.3/README
usr/doc/urbanlightscape-1.3.3/urbanlightscape.SlackBuild
install/
install/slack-desc
install/doinst.sh

Slackware package /tmp/urbanlightscape-1.3.3-i486-1_SBo.tgz created.

harry[urbanlightscape]$ sudo spkg /tmp/urbanlightscape-*.txz
Password:
ERROR: Package file does not exist. (/tmp/urbanlightscape-*.txz)
ERROR: Package upgrade failed!
close but no cigar. So trying full path name instead

Code: Select all

]$ sudo spkg /tmp/urbanlightscape-1.3.3-i486-1_SBo.tgz
Password:

seemed to do the trick on the 32 bit urbanlightscape install. Thanks for the link. A big thank you for the help.
I have not tested or upgraded menu yet. But my hopes are up. I use these for my 6 dog photos when I put dogs
that were scheduled to be killed by animal control and abusive owners.
I post their pictures in the hopes some one will take them home after we give them shots, make them healthy, and nueter
them.

http://oi60.tinypic.com/fuz91e.jpg
This one below has been adopted since I took this picture
http://oi39.tinypic.com/35jbbif.jpg
As well as this one
http://oi44.tinypic.com/2dj9mvd.jpg

My wife was the Animal Control administrator in our 1 horse town and I am the soft touch that has 6 dogs and 2 cats
in my back yard. So pictures help me out at
http://www.townofpecoscitytx.com/158/Animal-Control

when I post a edited picture with the dog description on the bill board at the pound office.
So this is good deed stuff.

UrbanLightScape install looks to be OK. Launches from menu also.
So one down.

I can live without tintii if I have to I guess. There are online photo editors I have not checked out yet either.

http://apps.pixlr.com/editor/

So, I am a happy camper here on the Mexican border. :)

Just to show what can be done after a edit

Image

Hoses, garage, lighting all adjusted or removed. Just the dog.

There is a simular edit to the tintii.Slackbuid file that fixes the crash problem. Open up tintii.Slackbuild file and add a new line after line 81 with the the following

Code: Select all

 --disable-assert
You will also need to add a space and forward slash "/" to the end of line 80. When you are done it should look like this

Code: Select all

./configure \
  --prefix=/usr \
  --libdir=/usr/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX} \
  --sysconfdir=/etc \
  --localstatedir=/var \
  --mandir=/usr/man \
  --docdir=/usr/doc/$PRGNAM-$VERSION \
  --build=$ARCH-slackware-linux \
  --disable-assert

Then just build and install the package like you did with urbanlightscape.

I tested this on VM runing Salix Xfce 32 bit.

Edited Line 80 as suggested and made sure my build edit matched yours. Then

Code: Select all

$ cd /usr/src/slapt-src/graphics/tintii
$ ls
README		slack-desc		     tintii-2.9.0.tar.gz  tintii.info
doinst.sh	tintii-2.9.0		     tintii.SlackBuild	  tintii.png
package-tintii	tintii-2.9.0-i486-1_SBo.txz  tintii.desktop
$
sudo sh ./tintii.SlackBuild
<snip>
./

usr/bin/tintii
usr/share/
usr/share/tintii/
usr/share/tintii/tintii.htb
usr/share/applications/
usr/share/applications/tintii.desktop
usr/share/pixmaps/
usr/share/pixmaps/tintii.png
usr/doc/
usr/doc/tintii-2.9.0/
usr/doc/tintii-2.9.0/COPYING
usr/doc/tintii-2.9.0/README
usr/doc/tintii-2.9.0/tintii.SlackBuild
install/
install/slack-desc
install/doinst.sh

Slackware package /tmp/tintii-2.9.0-i486-1_SBo.tgz created.
harry[tintii]$
But?

Code: Select all

harry[tintii]$ sudo spkg /tmp/tintii-2.9.0-i486-1_SBo.tgz
Password:
Skipping package tintii-2.9.0-i486-1_SBo (already uptodate)...
Do In I need to go into Gslapt and unstall tintii before running the above command.
I think so. But will wait for confirmation 1st. I will leave this plugged in so as not to lose /tmp file.
Better yet. I'll move the /tmp/tintii-2.9.0-i486-1_SBo.tgz to my newly made Pkg folder in /home/username
so I do not lose it after rebuilding the package.

PS. I do not know why My "But?" shows in code tags because it is in between the code tags of the 2 different readouts.
Build and install. But it all jumbles up into one code readout? Found the problem. code was showing twice in front of original build readout in code tags.

Use spkg with the --reinstall option.
