Hello All,

Just to be on the safe side i posted this here in the "Problems" section of our forum.

I wanted to upgrade my Firefox to 3.6.2 as it fixes a critical security issue (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3. ... easenotes/).

I tried to upgrade as a normal user, via the Help menu - "Check for updates" but i got an error message : "Unable to update / A recommended security and stability update is available, but you do not have the system permissions required to install it. Please contact your system administrator, or try again from an account that has permission to install software on this computer".

From this message, i realized that i need to have root rights to do this, and from a terminal window - with root - i run again Firefox and chosen upgrade and it worked this time.

Can you confirm if this is the right way or should i have waited for the upgraded version in the repository ?

P.S. for the moment everything is working just fine..

Cheers,

It isn't. You should have waited for an updated package. It will come from slackware soon I guess.
