adding xfce desktop to openbox ...no background/icons

My mom found this PC which used to have Windows XP on it. Thankfully the HDD crashed so bad it was unrecoverable, so a new HDD meant a new OS. :D

So naturally, I put Salix on it. The only one I had was Salix OpenBox 14.1. I was adding XFCE to it (since my mom wants this PC to be a birthday present to a family member), and ran into my first glitch:

There is no background wallpaper, nor is there Icons while using XFCE.

Is there a file that XFCE uses to add this funbction? What am I missing?

To make sure you have installed all of xfce and you're not missing any packages, run:

Code: Select all

sudo slapt-get --install-set xfce
You can then also install the user-settings-xfce package if you want to have the default salix settings applied. The easiest way to apply those would be to delete your user account and recreate it. Or create a new user account in any case and use that.
