This page has a video on it:
http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hb ... ubar2.html but it is not working in firefox on my Salix-Mate basic install with vlc and npapi-vlc packages installed. The firefox also has vlc-web-plugin installed and activated. How can I solve this?

The page is opening "Breaking the sound barrier with an aircraft" with a picture. Below that is an area where a video is supposed to play but instead there is a message "A plugin is needed to display this content". I know that this is a mpeg video. Which plugin do I need?

I tried the link in Firefox, Midori and Chromium and they all had the same problem with mplayer-plugin 3.55. At first it says mplayer-plugin needs permission and after granting permission it apparently downloads the video and then just says "Stopped"

After installing MPlayer here, video worked in all three browsers

OK, the link works now. The page was down when I tried it before. And I can confirm it works with mplayer+mplayer-plugin.
I have to note that webpages used this kind of embedding about 10 years ago, or even more. I don't think you'll find any page created during the last 10 years to embed media like that.

Yes, it works with mplayer & mplayerplug-in installed. On one computer, it also worked after installing gecko-mediaplayer. Any particular advantage of using one over the other?
