If I plug in a usb drive (8 gb), boot the computer with Salix installation CD and install Salix on the usb drive (sdb), will it install all right?

Also, will the bootloader lilo install only on sdb and not touch main hard disk (sda)?

Alternatively, how can I install grub2 bootloader on usb drive with Salix?

I tried to search and found following, which are different from my question:
https://docs.salixos.org/wiki/Install_from_a_USB_stick
https://docs.salixos.org/wiki/How_to_in ... _a_USB_key

Thanks for your answers.

Just install Salix Live on a USB stick, with persistence if you like. Alternatively, you can use a VM to try out other Linux flavours.

To do what you suggest would probably require a lot of fiddling (including a special initrd) if it is possible at all, in order to arrive at something already offered by Salix: a live USB. The installation image is intended for installing Salix on the hard disk.
