Hi Salixers

I am a happy salixer with a minor problem
My wireless works flawlessly in Salix
on another partition i want slackware current; but before that happening I needed to install slackware 13 which I did;
after installpkg wicd-etcetera I can see various wireless ESSIDs but not my (FritzBox);
trying to compare lsmod on Salix and Slackware gives me varoius modules not showing in Slackware but modprobing them doesnt solve my problem;
comparing both /lib/firmware dirs seems to give almost identical dirs.

Any idea what might be the problem?

Do I need to set up config files for wireless even if i have wicd installed?

By the way I want to try Kde 4.4 on slackware current ...

So, wireless works in salix 13.0, but your wifi network doesn't show up in slackware current?

The wicd package in slackware 13.0 is buggy, you better replace that with the one from the salix repository. The one from slackware current is OK though.

Then you should try AlienBob's KDE 4.4 build: http://alien.slackbook.org/ktown/

Is now solved : indeed changing to a different WICD version showed the wanted ESSID.

Only now I noticed that things are been made in place for a SALIX-current..
so all my trouble of setting up slackware current seems now unnecessary;

Thanks again for the kind help..

Greetings SALIXERS
