Solved (duh!):GStreamer backend error: Xv output

Hello again! Thanks to the wonderful Salix community here I solved my first few Salix issues, but one remains... I did do a search, but it yielded no results that solved my problem (well my computer's problem... I have several myself...).

Mp3s play fine in Exaile, but I am getting this error with Parole:

"GStreamer backend error
Could not initialize Xv output"

I tried running the following, as suggested on the forum and at this website (http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/salix-14-1-xfce.html), but I get an unknown command error...

"parole --xv false"

Trying to get this old eeePC restored to donate to a friend who is in need, so any help is appreciated!

Also, do I need to mark my other resolved problem as solved somehow?

Thanks!!! :D

In Parole, go into menu Tools/Preferences and then to Display and switch to a different video output (I'm guessing the one that says "No Xv").

And you can mark the problem as solved by editing your first post and changing the title.

Although you were not condescending in any way, I still feel like an idiot for not figuring that one out... I'll take solace in the fact that I ran to the forum without much tinkering...

Thanks Gapan!

I have the same problem with parole and the suggestion of gapan
does not solve it in my box, however, for the live version beta2 djemos suggested
a solution which works.
In the Audio CDs section, change the Command to:

parole --device=% cdda://
Other players such as xmms, mplayer or whaaw have no such problem.

I assume I can add this reply to this post.

addendum,
This also fixed my similar problem in VLC;
in settings, change from 'automatic' to 'X11' for video - output.

other keywords, vdpau, xvideo output XCB, ffmpeg, '.avi' files, salix 14.2 xfce,

ty to gapan in IRC for pointing me here
