I want Openbox on a eee pc 1000H 1 gb Atom 32 bit.

Is it best to install 14.2 and then just install openbox or is it best to use Openbox 14.1 iso and then upgrade?

I want a fast system with this old pc but also want Pulseaudio (and bluetooth) to work, so want the upgrades of 14.2.

There are no openbox packages for 14.2. They are not ready.
So use salix-openbox 14.1 iso. And if so do not upgrade to 14.2.

Okay, thanks for that, very useful!

Any other of the light windowmanagers that could be installed in 14.2, Windowmaker or Fluxbox?

Actually, there are. In our extra repo.

thanks. If the openbox iso does not like to be upgraded I try 14.2..
With slim as login manager if I can get it set up.

Since there are openbox packages on extra repos then can install salix-openbox 14.1 and upgrade to 14.2.

Would not be a problem anyway I guess, not much of a problem to have an old version of openbox.

If you want to run say Windowmaker you will be using some old code.. in Debian they removed wmakerconf, the settings manager
for Windowmaker, have to go back to Squeeze if not older to find the deb now.

Very neatly setup Openbox installation. Nice. And very fast and stable.

However wifi did not work, seemed to connect but could not get any data and disconnected all the time. Suspect driver problem.

Tried a partial upgrade but after upgrading the kernel got a kernel panic at boot.

So better use 14.2 and install openbox or other light desktop myself.

edit: connection probs were mostly in Gslapt - apparently the repos (tried changing them but same result)
did not like mobile net wifi (through a windows phone..=)
