Hi all, just migrated from Arch last week after 5 years of enjoying it. I still like Arch, but even though systemd worked well for me, I don't like the philosophy of it (single-purpose tools, scope-creep....), and the 'bleeding edge' isn't so appealing to me anymore. It also uses a lot of bandwidth to upgrade all the time! I like tinkering, and the ability to control and fix things myself (not just software).

I am glad Salix exists, and for me, has the right balance of package management and system clarity.

Salix devs: "JOB WELL DONE!"

Welcome to Salix - it sounds like it may suit you well.

You may wish to take a look at the Salix Startup Guide (available through a link on the homepage) especially chapter 3 on package management, the main point of divergence from Slackware. The Guide is rather out of date but still generally correct.
