wireless not working -- solved

Hi all,
I used (14.2 64bit) since some time with only "wired" ethernet.
After I moved I need to get a wireless connection, since I am no longer able to connect the PC to the router
with a cable.
I just grabbed an old TP link PCI adapter card, providing an Atheros chipset.
But I cannot get it running.
I neither know whether the adapter card is detected nor how to configure wicd or network manager to get the interface up for
a wireless connection.

I put the adapter card into a different slot and so it appeared with "LSHW" and WICD did recognise! All fine!
