Hi guys,

I tried to get an account for the libera chat, but did not work. Is there any known pitfall I was caught?

I would like to use pidgin (unless it does not work with Libera) rather than firefox.
Or, is there a other chat client who does the job better than pidgin?

Did you use the correct address and data from this site when you tried to access?

Libera chat supports the HexChat client. HexChat is in the repository and would probably do it, but it has many dependencies.

the problem is, as I have no registered account I cannot connect with pidgin.

How can I connect to Libera with pidgin, without the account info to make up my account?

Ok, new understanding and so another try. It should also work with Pidgin according to these instructions: https://libera.chat/guides/pidgin

and SASL

On my system cyrus-sasl is installed. Probably because I installed Pidgin a long time ago.

Nickname, username and password come from you, not from Libera Chat.

In general this should work https://libera.chat/guides/registration
