Issues when upgrading

Hi all,

I tried to upgrade as instructed by the wiki written by gapan.

I came across these issues:
when running

Code: Select all

slapt-get -i glibc glibc-zoneinfo glibc-i18n aaa_glibc-solibs
this is stated on the screen before exiting:

Code: Select all

...
install/doinst.sh: line 122: syntax error on enexpected expression 'fi'
install/doinst.sh: line 122: 'fi'
WARNING: Post-installation script failed
Further, when running

Code: Select all

slapt-get --upgrade
I get following message:

Code: Select all

...
Upgrading package gimp-2.8.18-x86_64-1_slack14,2 -> gimp-2.10.30-x86_64-2...
...
ERROR: Can't create directory over ordinary file. (usr/lib64/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/align-layers)
ERROR: Failed to extract file usr/lib64/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/align-layers
ERROR: Package upgrade failed
could not execute command [/sbin/spkg/-u --reinstall /var/slapt-get/./slackware64/xap/gimp-2.10.30-x86_64-2.txz]
The "--upgrade" process has stopped. Is this normal behaviour?

Thanks.

Well,

finally I decided to clean up that specific directory.
Reissued the command and now it runs through...

new problem:

when trying to update the kernel packages, the system is unable to resolve the host name...

What the hack is going on here?

Not sure, what is the output of the following commands?

Code: Select all

hostname
cat /etc/HOSTNAME
cat /etc/hosts
I'm not sure what error you're getting. Can't you download the kernel packages at all?

Good Morning!

well, obviously, the network configuration is gone.
the answer to all:
hostname=HOSTNAME: jpg153salix.myhome.net

etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 jpg153salix.myhome.net jpg153salix
192.168.0.1 router

Although in thepast I was used to setup internet connection "manually" I was using WICD recently and I am now a bit lost how to recreate
the connection.

Thanks

ok,

I now unchecked WICD in system services and checked network manager service.

Now, by miracle, it runs... :D

Yes, I don't think wicd works anymore. That's why it has been removed from the repos in 15.0.
