Thanks for the welcome! I saw your thread and really enjoyed the replies. It's comforting to know that there were more regulars in opposition to Systemd than carelessly shilling it. Perhaps it has gotten "better" with time, but the fact remains that it is a feature creep and tries to be more than just PID1. The biggest irony, of course, that being Lennart Poettering moving over to Microsoft (ergo Systemd is now a Microsoft "thing" :D).
I think that was the plan all along...Extend, Embrace, Extinguish. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween_documents

Worker is also limited to two panes, but each pane has an unlimited amount of independent tabs, so essectuially unlimited panes, just two of them visible at a time.
I'll give it a try. I'm not in a rush to replace Thunar immediately. It still fulfills most of my needs, and I don't mind using my mouse at all. But, setting keybindings for nearly anything you could think of is also a nice feature to make things easier, indeed.

Found this (have not tried it yet) in case you wanted to experiment with runit on Slackware/Salix: https://docs.slackware.com/howtos:slackware_admin:runit

or for OpenRC: https://docs.slackware.com/howtos:general_admin:openrc

Yeah, I actually tried to follow the steps closely, but had problems logging in to use Startx. I'll give it some time to get acquainted with the Slackware way of doing things, as I'm so used to the "conveniences" of Debian and Arch GNU/Linux.

Even with SysVinit, Salix is quite lightweight and fast when compared to those two other distros.
