Nordvpn issue

Installed Salix again, must admit I haven’t used it for some months now. Successfully installed everything I needed, either from the excellent Salix resources or flatpaks. Had a problem with NordVPN that I didn’t experience with any other distribution I’ve tried.

Installed NordVPN from Salix packages, opened terminal, added myself to the group, enabled the service, all normal. Attempted to login using the NordVPN ‘token’ method and got the following message -

rpc error: code = Unavailable desc = connection error: desc = "transport: Error while dialing dial unix /run/nordvpn/nordvpnd.sock: connect: no such file or directory"
Whoops! Cannot reach System Daemon.

Any thoughts, please?

I have no idea how nordvpn works, what the software does and I don't have a nordvpn account.

Some ideas:
* Did you follow the instructions in the README? https://slackbuilds.org/repository/15.0 ... k/nordvpn/
* Does the service actually start? Try running the rc file manually:

Code: Select all

sudo /etc/rc.d/rc.nordvpn start
* Try the newer version in SBo, linked above.

Thanks for your response. Yes I did follow the instructions explicitly with no success. I’ve tried three different ways of getting NordVPN to run in Salix and have emailed Nord with my logs and the error message I got in the terminal. I’m waiting for them to respond back once they have had time to read it and tell me where I’m going wrong.

Interestingly, just ten minutes ago I tried the Slackel live iso in my main machine as a live trial. The NordVPN .txz installation file I created several months ago installed immediately with no problems at all and worked correctly as it should. (It didn’t in Salix). So I have an alternative if NordVPN cannot help with the attempts to install it in Salix.

Thanks for your time and help, I’d tend to regard this as “resolved”.
