Been fairly happy with Salix, but about 15 minutes ago I downloaded Slackel Openbox 8.0 iso, wrote it to a usb stick using Balena Etcher and attempted to trial it on my Thinkpad T430 laptop, which I use for testing. It wouldn’t load. Imagined a dodgy usb, so burnt it again and verified it. Same result.

So I tried it in my main machine and the usb loaded immediately and presented the Openbox Slackel screen, which worked perfectly.

Any ideas, please why the usb loaded immediately and perfectly on my main machine, but wouldn’t on the T430?

Please be aware almost every other live usb I’ve ever tried (with the exception of Calculate Linux) has worked fine in the T430.

Slackel KDE iso is too old. (2016) Do not use it.

When create the Slackel 8.0 LIVE USB be sure to name the usb label "LIVE" without quotes.
Is secure boot disabled in T430?

Yes. Got it to boot now. Changed T430 bios to uefi/legacy both, rather than uefi only
