GVFS /Gigolo Non-hidden Directory

Post by laprjns »

Can gigolo gvfs be changed to mount shares in a non hidden directory? Now it defaults to ~/.gvfs which a lot of applications (example Easytag) file browsers can't see.
Thanks
Rich

I don't think that's possible. It's a gvfs thing, not a gigolo thing. A workaround could be to symlink ~/.gvfs to something else, non-hidden.

Thanks George, symlinks work. Do you think it wuld be worthwhile to request this upstream to gvfs? I really don't understand why they use a hidden folder. If I recalled from my zw days, there was a samba mounting tool which created a smb folder in the users home folder which the samba shares were mounted on.

I don't know. They must have their reasons, although I don't know what those could be. A try wouldn't hurt I guess.
