OK, so this is definitely the final Release Candidate! I discovered a nasty bug with the previous RC when setting up user accounts during installation, so we had to have another one.
* Fixed a nasty bug during installation (and also in usersetup/gtkusersetup tools) when the user entered a password with exactly 5 characters, or otherwise a very simple password, where the password setting failed silently (sort of, it displayed an error message *very* briefly, almost impossible to catch) and the user was left thinking they had entered a valid password, but none was set! So they wouldn't be able to log into their system after installation!
* Added support for dvorak programmer keymaps (in the installer too)
* When booting the installation medium, instead of typing "setup", you can also press the up arrow key to recall the command (useful if you're using a keyboard that does not correspond to the default keymap)
* Minor changes to looks (icons and panel layout)
* Some package updates, like firefox
* Updated Portuguese translations on the installer
Here it is...

Re: Salix 15.0RC4
Thanks @gapan
I will test it today.
I will test it today.
Re: Salix 15.0RC4
Will a package upgrade be enough to turn RC3 to RC4?
Re: Salix 15.0RC4
Yes, except a few minor things, if you care about them:
* install the kbd-extra package if you want the dvorak programmer keymaps
* change the systray icon size to 24, so tray tooltips are visible
* change the l3afpad icon in the taskbar launcher to "text-editor"
Re: Salix 15.0RC4
You never know. But including it was definitely the reason why I found out about the password issue I mentioned above.
Re: Salix 15.0RC4
Just for that it was already worth it In the small details is the difference that makes Salix and you @gapan great!

I'd like to say "well-done", but it isn't ...
1. A pencil or a leaf?
Apart from that leaf-icon not being the prettiest, it's either -- or.
https://ibb.co/nCsPSJH
2. Whatever changes you did to that 'All Applications' & 'Recently Used', they (negatively) affect all other icon sets ...
https://ibb.co/kKFSmq4
https://ibb.co/5R2mwHn
3. I DID answer "31" (4@30 panel) ... for a reason. ...
The full-screen screenshots ...
https://ibb.co/M8Q8swz
https://ibb.co/wd5K56y
Somewhat larger:
https://ibb.co/T18n1W0
https://ibb.co/Xz1cvJQ
https://ibb.co/TkvLtXd
If someone still can't see, even larger:
https://ibb.co/nbTqwzj
The distance between the panel top border and the tooltip bottom border becomes even @31 -- NOT @24!
And then, there is also the advantage, that someone who makes the panel little bit taller, won't immediately loose the tooltip.
4. Desktop "I want more information" pop-up:
https://ibb.co/0VbXjqJ
You WON'T get more information, but you WILL GET a VERY UGLY desktop. Dot. (no com)
5. All other issues ...
- System area icons left and right, and the pager in between. That looks ugly, and it breaks the system area logic ...
- No 'energy / battery' on the panel (which most people need), but 4 pager windows (which almost nobody needs, but occupy 1/6th of panel space).
https://ibb.co/2kf3DDL
https://www.statista.com/statistics/272 ... sktop-pcs/
- White panel and blue window frame(s) ain't ugly, but very disturbing -- if watching images or video, or working with graphic / video applications.
6. While making a new IceWM theme, I noticed one other issue related to 'defaults' ... Icons, Themes, GTK 2/3/4, XDG Environments etc. ...
Maybe it's just me, or the Slackware, don't know, but the fact is, some things do not work as expected.
Didn't make the screenshots yet, so it'll have to wait a bit.
* Screenshots of the issue -- screenshot of Geany in:
antiX: https://ibb.co/bP7HL5y
Salix: https://ibb.co/RSc3HLW
Just as an example, as it affects most, but not all applications.
If I switch back from IceWM to Xfce, then (mostly) everything is behaving as expected.
As you can clearly see, SpaceFM looks as it is supposed to, but Geany has no system-theme nor icons, nor cursor, nor ...

Re: Salix 15.0RC4
Come on, you should know better. One is the generic "text-editor" icon, the other one is the l3afpad specific icon.
Whiskermenu now uses the "applications-all" and "default-folder-recent" icons for those. You icon sets need to provide those.
Yes, and your arguments weren't very convincing. No matter what the defaults are, there is a course that will lead to "broken" behavior. So, I settled for this. If someone changes the panel height, they can also change the tray icon height too.
You won't get more information if you hover over that icon, but do it on an image or a pdf and you will.
There are no system icons to the right of the pager. And I have already provided the reasoning behind this: the pager doesn't move around when adding/removing tray items.
4 virtual desktops is the minimum that I could consider using.
I'm guessing that you need to start your icewm session with dbus-launch. Not really sure.
Re: Salix 15.0RC4
I tend to agree with some things that missTell says, small details that make a difference but I think overall Salix looks reasonably well done. I think it should have some programs instead of others (more Xfce centric like mousepad instead of l3afpad, etc..) but IMHO it is ready for release. In RC4 everything worked well for me. In the end, I just want Salix to not stray too far from Slackware! Only a bit polished and easy for the user. Although the "userland" is always controversial
