Re: Salix KDE 14.0beta1
Looking good.
A couple of cosmetic ideas.
There's a mozilla-firefox entry in the Favorites section of the KDE application launcher.
The qupzilla homepage could be set to http://salixos.org/start
Any reason not to use wicd-kde?
Everything I've tested is working as expected.

mozilla-firefox entry in the Favorites section of the KDE application launcher replaced by qupzilla entry.
The qupzilla homepage set to http://www.salixos.org/start from http://www.salixos.org/wiki/index.php/Home
I prefer wicd. I think its interface is better than wicd-kde.
Thank you for testing.

Re: Salix KDE 14.0beta1
I confirm there is still what seems to be a remnant of mozilla-firefox entry in the favorite, but dead and without icon.
Apart from that, at first sight everything seem to work well on this full 32 bit install. Wifi is ok... French keyboard OK...
I suppose in KDE Localization is not fully included for lack of space. Terminal is in French as should be, but KDE environment stayed in English.
I'll have to play with it a few days and report back.
Very nice work.

What really matters is where you are going, not where you come from.
Re: Salix KDE 14.0beta1
mozilla-firefox entry in the favorite has been fixed on user-settings-kde.
KDE Localization is not fully included for lack of space. Iso image would be a lot more than a GB.
Qt's size has been reduced from 160MB to 20MB. So iso image can be less than a GB.

Re: Salix KDE 14.0beta1
As posted on the ML, KDE x86_64 boots into runlevel 3 when installed as Basic.
The release is looking great and I recommend more users to try it out so it can be fully tested! If you don't have a spare partition, but do have reasonably powerful hardware, you can test it in a VM such as VirtualBox.

Re: Salix KDE 14.0beta1
I loaded this into a VM this morning. No issues, wireless, audio, video all working. .... so my only issue is, as soon as I get back to report my findings, I see a new release candidate is out ..grrr
Ok, it's a good thing

But the new beta release is Openbox. This KDE beta still needs testing as much as possible.
Thank you for testing!

Yep - I was just looking at the 14.Obeta1/14.Obeta2 part of the subject line and assumed it was a new release. I guess those elementary teacher's were right when they said I was 'attention span' challenged..But the new beta release is Openbox.

Re: Salix KDE 14.0beta1
Running the 32b Beta in Virtualbox I get the following message when in: System Manger > Desktop Effects > General Tab
A slapt-get search shows libXcomposite and libXdamage both installed on my machine. I'm not sure if the problem is related to the virtualbox environment or an issue with the beta and I am not seeking a solution. Just reporting an issue for developer(s) if it is an issue with the beta.Desktop effects are not available on this system due to the following issues:
Required X extentions (XComposite and XDamage) are not available.
