Your Salix

Post by tsuren »

As a part of my new project (which might or might not work out), I would like to make a bit of behavioural study here. My question to you, salix users, is as follows:

What kind of salix user are you?

Please tell us a bit about your box and how you normally use your salix. If you have some applications which you think are the "must have" in your opinion, please do share with us. (e.g. if you are a prolific digital photographer, you might think that Shotwell is a must have. Or, if you're a writer, you might suggest "Freemind" for mindmapping.)

There is a bug in the default theme that makes it impossible to vote. Perhaps I can have a look at it after eating...

I was looking for a GNU/Linux distribution that ACTUALLY has Xfce installed by default and has Iceweasel available, so I found Zenwalk and after lurking for sometime at the Zenwalk Forum, I've found people arguing and then > Salix OS was born ;)

right now the solution is to cast votes using a different theme (anything other than salix green will do).

I am wondering what "others" could mean.
Maybe I can check it if I use Salix for all of the options but only a little bit at each?

"others" mean "none of the above" - for example, a linux gamer...
anyway, i wish that people who voted for "others" could say a bit more about their choice.

Voted. (with a different theme (I like the 1thank one))

So, my vote :
- programmer (doing a bit and learning a lot)
- server admin
- daily use for me and my family (more systems)(internet, multimedia, photos, games,...)
- salix packages testing, building, uploading ;)
- open source project contributing (bugs reports, translations, ...)
- jabber/xmpp live chat
- and, salix, salix, salix....

There seems to be an error when I voted. And I cannot change my vote. How to do ? Thenktor ? (or maybe tsuren as the creator of this thread) ?

I havent used salix very long (aug 2010), i dont us it on my main computer yet, using archlinux.
Testing salix on a laptop, working well.
I liked salix so i started to translate salix tools to Swedish.

My vote:
heavy internet user
others

simple photo editing (gimp) on slackware 12.2 (using digikam 0.9.4 for photomanaging)
creating CD-labels/inserts/stickers (inkscape)
little development
little translations
little server admin (slackware) both home and work
using Scribus so it would be nice to have it included in salix
I am a KDE user so i am wating for the KDE version (tested beta7 a little)
