I've just found a layout I can't achieve with OpenOffice, so I looked for Scribus: not available. So, remembering that KWord is frame-based, I tried to install KOffice using Gslapt.
No dependencies are listed, but when I tried to run the program I found I was missing libImath. Since that is not listed, I tried installing kdebase. It didn't help. I then tried installing kdebase-runtime. I got libImath (with a lot of stuff I didn't need), but now I'm missing libkabc! I've tried installing that from slapt-get, only to be told it doesn't exist.
Help! I'm trapped in dependency hell!
Installing KOffice under Xfce
Re: Installing KOffice under Xfce
There was a problem with the koffice dependency file, which was missing in the repository. I have fixed that now, so if you remove the package, refresh the package database and reinstall the package, you should get everything you need. However, that includes the entire KDE. I'm not sure you would really want that in an xfce system.

Re: Installing KOffice under Xfce
Thanks for the fix! I've just installed KOffice; it certainly does bring everything including the kitchen sink with it. I see that KOffice is now to become Calligra and KWord, Words. Whether that will make it less KDE-dependent or enable you to install just one program from the suite, we shall have to wait and see.
