CPU scaling

Post by lmello »

My laptop has 'temper' issues. I'd like to reduce the CPU frequency so that it would not heat as much and cause random crashes. How can I do that?

BTW, my CPU is a Intel Celeron 540.

You might want to do a search for 'cpu frequency scaling', I'm not sure that Celerons are supported though.

I'm also pretty sure there's a section in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules of it, just check that it's set to 'ondemand'.

Perhaps you should better open the laptop and clean the heatsink.
