In SalixOS I have all that I need, with the exception being GNOME 2.x. I have been experiementing with GNOME 2.x from GSB but had some trouble. I'll keep working on it though.

I realise I have been using SalixOS for a little while now but not yet said "Thankyou" to the entire team - developers, artists and translators. So...thankyou.

Gnome 2.x might not be that hard to package for salix, not requiring gsb... we'll see...

I wouldn't like to distract the Salix team with a random request for GNOME 2.x in the official Salix repositories. You all do a great job maintaining the existing packages and complicating that with something like GNOME may take you away from things which are more important.
If I get desperate enough I'll try compiling GNOME 2.x for myself. I think my problems are not the fault of GSB but my lack of understanding as to how to combine the two best. It seems that GSB replaces many packages already available in Salix and I have trouble knowing what to do in Gslapt when I see the various versions. I also have trouble with some packages that have conflicting library dependencies.
I love the fact that Salix takes Slackware's stability and adds some GUI tools which make life for the I-just-want-to-run-an-OS-not-learn-about-the-Linux-kernel type of person easier. Of course this is not all that there is to Salix but it's what I particularly like. I also enjoy the great "feeling" I get from the community, which seems to be very positive.
With 13.37 I look forward to using Sourcery (which I have used under 13.1.2, but please don't tell anyone) and the GUI Control Center/Centre.
