after the login I sometimes get this message

the translation is: Error, it is not possible to connect with FAM, have you installed FAM or Gamin?

also the wallpaper is all grey and I cannot see the icons on it.

It's not a big deal because it happened like 3 or 4 times in a week, so I'm not sure if it's useful to let you know, in the doubt I made this thread

Hmm, actually I think I've seen this message on my 13.37 netbook after creating a new user and starting XFCE, too. I didn't bother because I'm using Openbox on that netbook. Maybe others have seen this, too?

By your screenshot I assume your using the LXDE edition.

This is just a guess but I'd say this is a bug with pcmanfm rather than gamin.
